Women’s Self Defense Class
Mercer Academy of Martial Arts recognizes that all styles of Martial Arts offer valuable techniques and insight into martial arts training. To this end, Mercer Academy of Martial Arts is committed to a well rounded approach to martial arts. Our unique style is enhanced through exposure to other styles. Listed below are various seminars we have hosted to expand the training of our students and instructors.
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Seminar w/ Phil Migliarese
In November 2004, Mercer Academy of Martial Arts held a Jiu-Jitsu seminar with Phil Migliarese of Balance Studios in Philadelphia. Balance Studios is home to the Philadelphia Ashtanga Yoga Shala and the Philadelphia Gracie Black Belt Jiu-Jitsu academy. Mr. Migliarese is the only certified teacher in Philadelphia to teach the full Gracie Jiu-Jitsu curriculum. Professional Boxing Seminar

Korean Short Stick Seminar
Instructors:
Grandmaster Hank Shin, 9th Degree Black Belt, Cheonkido, Hapkido, 50 years experience
Mr. Bruce Porter, 3rd Degree Black Belt, Cheonkido, 25 years experience
Learn various attacking and defensive techniques using the short stick, hands and feet. Each student will receive personal attention during class from one of the above instructors.
Master Jones and the students of Mercer Academy of Martial Arts had the opportunity to learn Korean short stick and Hapkido self-defense techniques at a seminar on Saturday May 8th. Grandmaster Hank Shin and Mr. Bruce Porter spent the afternoon with students of Mercer Academy of Martial Arts. Their knowledge, experience and expertise were eagerly received by the students. It was relaxing, fun and full of energy. Mercer Academy of Martial Arts looks forward to having them back soon.
